Genomics is an interdisciplinary field of biology focusing on the structure, function, evolution, mapping, and editing of genomes. The application and development of these genetic information could resolve many routine issues, ie: mass production of foods, new drug development and diseases detection and the relevant therapeutic regimen. "Genomics"原意為基因體學，所謂的基因體學是研究生物的基因體及如何利用基因的一門學問，藉由這些基因資訊的運用與開發，將能解決許多與人類日常生活息息相關的問題，如糧食的增產、新藥的開發、疾病的偵測與治療等。
